Just added so many of these to my TBR, but Rainbow Black takes the number one spot! That sounds SO good!! I'm so excited that you're reading Pachinko and can't wait to hear your thoughts; truly one of my faves. I'm nearly finished with Daniel Mason's North Woods, which I think you might enjoy. It's set in Massachusetts and spans several centuries...but the main character is a house. It almost reads like a bunch of short stories with this through-line and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Can't wait for your next reading wrap up, you always have such great recs!

Ahh please let me know what you think of Rainbow Black! Loving Pachinko so far.

I recently heard someone else talking about North Woods too- I’ll have to check it out! I love a New England setting. Thanks for reading 🫶🏻

I wasn't sure about The God of the Woods (unpopular opinion?). The setting and class dynamics were satisfying enough, but as a mystery/thriller, not so much. There was enough there for me to enjoy it, though. Hoping to catch Liz Moore's discussion at the Texas Book Fest this weekend, so maybe I'll feel differently after hearing her speak on it.

No I completely understand - I thought I would LOVE it but in reality I enjoyed it but wasn’t totally obsessed. For me it was a really good reading experience which is why I ranked it higher, but it wasn’t my favorite thing ever. I preferred Long Bright River actually! So jealous that you may be hearing her speak this weekend, hope it’s lovely.

The book I'm reading right now speaks so much to what you are saying about how we relate to others through the pages of a book; it's also just a beautiful and quiet book that is bringing me so much comfort right now. If you haven't read it yet, I think you might enjoy it too-- Welcome to the Hyunam-Dong Bookshop by Hwang Bo-Reum. I also DEVOURED Big Swiss on audio over the weekend; I was consumed by it, the narration was impeccable.

I will check it out!! I wish I was an audiobook girly but sadly I just am not. Do you ever hear about a book so many times that you just don’t read it? That’s been Big Swiss for me so far 👀👀

I was that way with audiobooks; celebrity memoirs read by the author were my gateway 😂 but some just don't work for me. Hahaha ahhh yes I know what you mean. I'd be quite curious to hear your take on Big Swiss if that ever changes, it was so unique!
