really enjoyed this piece Jordan! I'm unsure how I feel about the general trend of influencer-led limited edition collabs. On one hand it does increase the number of trend-forward options in the plus market, but I also worry that it still contributes to the volatile changes in reliability and availability of inclusive options. I'd be curious to see if Remi has any plans to launch her own clothing line or label independently; obviously a ton more overhead and preparation needed, but maybe could be a more sustainable approach?
I'm so glad!! Thank you for reading. I completely agree and understand what you're saying - that's how I felt about the recent Kate Spade x Eloquii collaboration (although it's not influencer led). I wrote about how Kate Spade could just expand their regular sizing rather than make it a one-time thing. It definitely feels like the limited time collections could be an impediment to true expansion of extended sizing across the board. I think there's absolutely room for more small inclusive brands (IE if Remi wanted to start one) but more than anything I'd prefer to see more large retailers (mid-tier, mall brands, designer/luxury) expand their entire size range permanently. It certainly seems like Sam's Club should expand their size range to match Remi's collection based on the IG comments!
